Against Reason is a short film about when two exes (Jack and Anna) spontaneously meet up for a night of fun. The two get more than they bargained for when playful reminiscing turns into a critical review of what went wrong in their relationship. Jack and Anna realize that they’re going to have to confront things they never did during their breakup.
The film deals with themes of love, lust, betrayal, jealously and the general state of dating for 20-somethings with the presence of ubiquitous social media.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Mike Nichols, Noah Baumbach, and Sofia Coppola amongst others, Against Reason aims to be both romantically comical and tragic.
Director Bio
Kevin A Courtney is a Director from Toronto, Canada making his narrative directorial debut with Against Reason. Inspired by the work of filmmakers such as Noah Baumbach, Derek Cianfrance, and Sean Baker, Kevin's narrative work aims to examine personal relationships while feeling authentic and relatable. When Kevin isn't working on narrative passion projects he's directing commercial work across Canada.
